Version: *A
ModusToolbox™ 3.1 software is a modern, extensible development environment supporting a wide range of Infineon microcontroller devices. It provides a flexible set of tools and a diverse, high-quality collection of application-focused software.
Under normal operation, ModusToolbox™ accesses run-time content, code examples, middleware, and board support packages from the Infineon GitHub account. Recognizing that continued internet access is not always possible, the Local Content Storage (LCS) Manager CLI tool is introduced in ModusToolbox™ 3.1.
The LCS Manager CLI tool is a new feature in the ModusToolbox™ 3.1 tools package that replaces the older feature called offline content bundle. The LCS feature provides a command-line tool called lcs-manager-cli that allows you to create your own local content on demand. You can decide whether to save the entire database (approximately 5 GB of data) or a subset of data for the BSPs that you specify.
ModusToolbox™ Local Content Storage CLI user guide contains the information and instructions for using the Local Content Storage (LCS) Manager CLI tool.
To navigate to the LCS CLI user guide do the following:
- Go to the ModusToolbox™ webpage.
- Click on Development Resources as shown in Figure 1.

With the release of ModusToolbox 3.1 the offline content support has been deprecated in favor of the new local content storage feature. Working offline is now easier than before and users are able to update their local content without waiting for a release off the offline package. Offline content packages will continue to work in a ModusToolbox 2.x and 3.0 environment but are not supported from the 3.1 release and will no updates to the package are planned.
