Is it possible to connect the drain of configurable channels at supply voltage higher than VS?
SPIDER+ devices are smart switches controlled by SPI communication. This family includes high side (HS), low side (LS) and configurable channels. The configurable channels can be used either as HS or LS.
The devices use a charge pump to bias all the HS and configurable channels when a low ohmic state is required. The charge pump is connected to VS pin.
The drain of the configurable channels connected as high side (HS) have to be connected to a supply voltage lower than VS. In this case the charge pump properly bias the switch in low ohmic state when it is requested. Contrary, (if the drain voltage is higher than VS ) the switch is not properly biased into low ohmic state when requested.
Of course if the voltage drop is limited (e.g. one diode drop) the system can still work properly, but the DS parameters (e.g. Rds_on, OVL, OLON) are not granted.
