S26HS-T/S26HL-T devices are offered in two boot up options, depending on the ordering part number (OPN) as follows:

  1. Model#00 and #02 are x8 default mode (highlighted in yellow)
  2. Model#01 and #03 are x1 default mode

Model #01 and #03 devices boot in x1 mode as a factory option. Updating the Configuration Register 3, bit-1 to ‘1’ (CFR3N[1] or CFR3V[1]), changes the device interface to HYPERBUS™ (x8) mode. If this update is applied to non-volatile CFR3N[1], then on every power-up or hardware reset, the device boots in HYPERBUS™ (x8) mode, while if the update is applied to volatile CFR3V[1], then on the next power cycle or hardware reset, the device reverts to x1 mode. This is JEDEC-compliant mode.

Model #00 and #02 offer to have backward compatibility with Infineon’s 65-nm HYPERBUS™ flash. These models default to HYPERBUS™ (x8) mode as a factory option and do not need any additional configuration
