# Can I use TLD6098-1EP / TLD6098-2ES for very large output voltage ranges?

The TLD6098 series can drive output voltages up to 70V. When using dimming, a wide range of output voltages can be driven within one application. Then special care has to be taken for the design of the feedback circuitry. Short-to-ground detection threshold at pin VFB is 100mV and overvoltage threshold at 1.6V. If the minimum output voltage is less than 1/16 of the maximum voltage, then a standard voltage divider is not sufficient.

Then the output voltage for a given feedback voltage can be calculated from Kirchoff's current law as:
VOUT = (-(IVCC-VFB)/RFBH2+VFB/RFBL)*RFBH1+VFB.
E.g. when using RFBL = 1 kOhm, RFBH1 = 33 kOhm, RFBHL2 = 68 kOhm, the short to ground detection occurs at 1V at the output and overvoltage is getting triggered at 53V.
