Can CoolMOS™ S7 be used at switching freq higher than 20 KHz? (KA-03175)
Even if the device does not fail, the CoolMOS™ S7 is optimized for low-frequency switching and hence at high frequency (i.e. 65 KHz) is expected that its performance degrades and the advantages of this technology are lost. Hence, Infineon does NOT recommend to use CoolMOS™ S7 where the switching frequency is high, like for instance in the boost stage of a PFC. In this cases, suitable devices are CoolMOS™ P7, C7, G7 and CFD7.
