Version: **

Problem
: Unable to reinstall Debug Access Server (DAS) after uninstalling it.

Solution: The error "Already installed the latest DAS version 7.x.x" may appear if you uninstall the current DAS version and then attempt to install a different version. This prevents the installation of any DAS version.

This is because the DAS entry in the Windows registry file may not be deleted during the uninstallation process. Deleting these entries from the Windows registry file can fix this issue.

To delete the entries, perform the following steps:

  1. Search for Registry Editor from the start menu and run it as an administrator.
  2. Navigate to HKEY_CURRENT_USER\SOFTWARE\Infineon Technologies.
  3. Right click on DAS entry and select Delete.
  4. Similarly, navigate to HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Control\Session Manager\Environment and delete the DAS_HOME entry.
  5. Close the Registry Editor and proceed to install the desired DAS version.

Problem: Unable to use the DAS Basic Client because of a DAS_API loading error.

Solution: This error occurs due to improper installation of DAS, which may have failed to create a Windows Registry entry necessary for the proper functioning of DAS.

To install the DAS properly, perform the following steps:

  1. Search for Registry Editor from the start menu and run it as an administrator.
  2. Navigate to HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Control\Session Manager\Environment.
  3. Click Edit -> New -> String Value.
  4. Give the name as DAS_HOME and the data as C:\Program Files\DAS64.
  5. Close the Registry Editor.

Now the DAS Basic Client works properly.

Note that other free IFX tools like IFX MemTool and MCD Basic Client also use DAS APIs, so this registry entry is necessary for them to function properly.
