Question: What are protocol hardware offload features offered by the Gigabit Ethernet (GETH) IP for commonly used communication protocols over Ethernet?
Answer: The AURIX™ TC3xx GETH module MAC has a dedicated Checksum Offload Engine (COE) for UDP and TCP datagrams. On the transmit path, the COE calculates and inserts the checksum in the packet and verifies the received checksum on the receive path.
Additionally, the MAC has a split header on receive feature. This ensures that incoming header and payload are stored in different buffers in system memory. This is useful in IP and non-IP use cases (for example, Audio Video Bridging).
Note: This KBA applies to the following series of AURIX™ MCUs:
- AURIX™ TC3xx series
