AURIX™ MCU: GETH reset sequence under low voltage conditions – KBA236011

Version: **

Question:

In a low power spike condition, the Ethernet transceiver (PHY) restarts due to low voltage but the Gigabit Ethernet (GETH) MAC continues to operate. In such a case, at least a MAC reset has to be performed. Should any additional steps be performed to ensure correct communication behavior?

Answer:

The transmit descriptors (TDESx) and receive descriptors (RDESx), used for the GETH buffers must be cleared manually. Failing to do so will lead to an erratic communication and dropped frames on reset.

Note: This KBA applies to the following series of AURIX™ MCUs:

  • AURIX™ TC3xx series
