AURIX™ MCU: Debugging and tracing modules - KBA235620
In AURIX™ microcontrollers, the following modules help to troubleshoot or improve efficiency of the application code:
- On-Chip Debug System (OCDS) - This is available on both productive and emulation devices. It is an intrusive method of debugging where breakpoints are used and watchdogs are suspended. Therefore, the time behavior of the application is affected. This method is not suited for time-dependent bugs, which may not reliably reproducible after OCDS is enabled.
- MultiCore Debug Solution (MCDS) - This enables the user to analyze the system in a non-intrusive way by tracing instructions, compact functions, or data logging. The full-blown MCDS module is available only on emulation devices. For productive devices, there are smaller MCDS options called MCDSLight and MiniMCDS.
Note: This KBA applies to the following series of AURIX™ MCUs:
- AURIX™ TC2xx series
- AURIX™ TC3xx series
