Hello,

I got the EVAL_2500W_PFC_GaN_A and in the start-up procedure is stated that the recommended way is to use an electronic load in constant current mode and a programmed sink current of 100mA.

Can be instead of the electronic load a load resistor be used with 3.9kOhm?

The only benefit of using a programmed sink current is due to a more reliable start-up, right? Or is there another reason for it aswell?
Is a startup with another output current than 100mA possible as well? Meaning that the desired output load is already connected during start-up?

Hi @PowerStarter_ ,

Test procedure describes how to use the hardware for lab evaluations and results are used as a guide. 100mA is the minimum load requirement.

After validating the results you can use this for your application.

Ok. The minimum load requirement of 100mA is at full output voltage (390V) right? Because when a Resistor is used as a load the current at start-up would be less than the 100mA, when a static resistance of 3900kOhm is being used.

Your interpretation is accurate. Make sure the resistor you are using is of a sufficient value; it should meet the minimum load requirement.
