Hi, Please tell us a few things about 6EDL7141.

【Contents】

・The output current of 6EDL7141 can be changed, but how many mA can the output current be set?

・Is it possible to disable the short circuit detection function (shunt monitoring) function?

・Is it okay to recognize that the internal memory is volatile?

We apologize for the inconvenience, but thank you for your understanding.

Regards,

Hi @YuTa_4942221,

Good Day!

Thanks for posting your question in Infineon Community.

The output current of 6EDL7141 can be changed, but how many mA can the output current be set?

The supply voltage (PVDD) can be varied from 5.5 to 60 V, IPVDDMAX (Input current for buck converter) ranges from 20 mA to 50 mA.

Maximum Load current IDVDD (Output from LDO) is 300 mA.

DVDD target output current limit configurable via SPI, IDVDDILIM ranges from 50 mA to 450 mA

Is it possible to disable the short circuit detection function (shunt monitoring) function?

Try to disable Short circuit detection in two ways

  • Always OFF: current sense amplifier output disabled. This is achieved by disabling the amplifier in register CSAMP_CFG via bitfield CS_EN.
  • In BPA Motor Control GUI, you can disable OCP fault trigger in 6EDL7141 gate driver Current Sense Amplifier and OCP section (refer the image)

Is it okay to recognize that the internal memory is volatile?

In 6EDL7141, there is OTP NVM which stores the default configuration.

The registers which can be programmed by users via SPI commands are in volatile memory

Best Regards,
Vinay

Thank you very much for contacting me.

Let me check one more point regarding the output current.
I think that the range of output current as a Gate Driver can be changed up to ± 1.5, but how many amps steps can I change?

Hi @YuTa_4942221,

Good Day!

Yes, Peak Gate Driver currents  IHS_SRC_FULL and IHS_SNK_FULL are 1.5 A and -1.5 A respectively.

As you see in the attached waveform (please refer GateSourecandSinkCurrents6EDL7141.png and GateCurrentsduringswitching6EDL7141.png), during turn-on, there is the Tdrive1 and Tdrive2 period.

Tdrive1 period (Precharge) -

Here if Precharge is enabled (I_PRE_EN register bit), then precharge current can be selected in 16 different values, and here maximum limit will be 500mA.

And once precharge is disabled (I_PRE_EN register bit), 1.5A can be applied.

Kindly refer to Gate Driver Pre-Charge Current Control Register (IDRIVE_PRE_CFG). (please refer GateDriverPrechargeCurrentControlRegister6EDL7141.png)

Tdrive2 period (Miller region) -

Here current can be selected in 16 different values and here maximum limit will be 500mA as mentioned in the IHS_SRC register bits and attached waveform. (GateSourecandSinkCurrents6EDL7141.png)

Kindly refer to Gate Driver Current Control Register (IDRIVE_CFG). (please refer GateDriverCurrentControlRegister.png)

Thank you!
