DAVE v4 and DAVE APPs are now released as Productive version.
Also a new version of XMC Lib has been released.

DAVE v4.1.2 and DAVE SDK v4.1.2
With this new version, DAVE v4 and DAVE SDK has reached Productive status.
Major improvements in comparison to the previous version are.

• Fixing of issues and design improvements
  
• Feature to upgrade to new versions of DAVE APPs
  
• Feature to reserve resources to avoid resources conflicts between DAVE APPs and other SW components
  
• Improved APP management: Clear differentiation between Productive and Beta APPs
  
• DAVE SDK: improved debug capabilities
  
• Support of the Cortex M3 based TLE9800 microcontrollers (including library , no APPs)
  

DAVE v4.1.2 requires a new workspace and a new local library store. Projects from DAVE v4.0.0 can be imported

DAVE APPs and Device Descriptions.
In total now 70 DAVE APPs are released, most of them (58) are released as Productive version: 12 APPs are released as Beta version.

• 8 new DAVE APPs are released: ACMP_CONFIG , COMP_REF, COMP_SLOP_GEN, CMSIS_RTOS_RTX, CMSIS_DSP, DAC_SWEEP, FREERTOS and GLOBAL_ACMP.
  
• ACMP_CONFIG is a peripheral configuration APP that creates the initialization function of the peripheral module based on a graphical GUI, to operate the peripheral the APIs from the peripheral driver can be used
  
• 4 DAVE APPs for motor control uses cases have been removed, because they will undergo significant improvements: BLDC_SCALAR_CTRL, HALL_POSIF, PMSM_FOC, PMSM_SCALAR_CTRL
  

All Device descriptions have been updated (fixing of issues and improvements the solver interface. Because of these changes a local library store with DSVE v4.0.0 cannot be used with DAVE v4.1.2 (default location path has been changed)

18 DAVE APPs of this release package are not fully upward compatible to their earlier beta version. However DAVE v4.0.0 projects can be imported in DAVE v4.12 and upgraded, the incompatible APPs require some manual adjustments.
For most of the DAVE APPs there are examples available, they can be downloaded directly from DAVE.

XMC Lib
The XMC lib has been update to version 2.0.0. In this version, peripheral driver for Ethernet and DSD module have been added. The complete change log can be found in the release note and in the XMC lib documentation. 4 peripheral drivers are not fully upward compatible. However, existing user code can be easily ported with a few manual actions (details are described in the guide to move projects from DAVE v4.0.0 to DAVE v4.1.2).

Hi all,

I would like to take advantage of hardware floating point unit in XMC4500. However, selecting 'Full hardware floating point (-mfloat-abi=hard) option under Miscellaneous section of compiler options in DAVE4 throws bunch of linker errors.

We are happy to announce the availability of the Beta release of a new DAVE versions:
DAVE version 4 and DAVE SDK v4


In DAVE v4 we have implement a lot of valuable improvements, in a nutshell these are:

• Faster and more robust design: In particular the time for code generation, responses on user interactions in the graphical user interfaces and build time could be improved significantly.
  
• DAVE APPs are now based on low level peripheral drivers (XMC Lib) which makes generated code more efficient and more readable.
  
• A DAVE SDK is provided as separate tool: Now everyone can develop own DAVE APPs or modify existing APPs, use cases are not restricted and DAVE SDK can be used to develop a configuration APPs for any library.
  
• A set of low level peripheral drivers (XMC Lib) is now available and is used by DAVE APPs. The XMC Lib can also be used independent of DAVE or DAVE APPs with any other tool chain that supports XMC (Atollic, Altium, Keil, IAR, Rowley)

As above mentioned DAVE includes now a full set of low level peripheral drivers (productive release, 3 drivers to be released later) included in the DAVE libraries, along with DAVE APPs, Device Descriptions and a device support package (CMSIS files). DAVE v4, DAVE SDK v4 and DAVE APPs v4 are released as Beta version because they are still under system test and code review. We recommend using them for evaluation and test purposes or adaption in development flow.

Just to let you know we have released last week a new version of DAVE 3: version 3.1.2. It can be downloaded from

After download follow the installation instruction that is included in the zip file
Yesterday we have released an updated version of the DAVE App Library: DAVEApps_Libaray001 version 1.0.4. It includes 4 new DAVE Apps (UART, I2C, Temperature Sensor and SCU interrupt) plus an update of a few existing Apps (Clock, DMA, NVIC-DMA, IO).

To update, press in DAVE3 >Help >Check for DAVE App Updates.

We also have added additional device models (device descriptions) to support now all devices from the XM4500 series, they need to be downloaded separately:
> Help > Install DAVE Apps/ Example Library, then select DAVE App Library Manager, then select all Library_DAVEDevice Description options

In the documentation of the updated Apps there is a release history that list all changes.

Hi all.
I know that the parity mode can't be used in ASC for XMC45xx AA & AB ,but how about AC? I want to know if the AC can use even or odd parity mode? Show Less

I am using dave4 to write a rs485 driver without apps. I am at the early stage so that my question only deals with uart ( and exactly the channel U1C0). This is the flow of the code:

I send out an array of data with a for loop. Inside the loop, I first check if the fifo is full. If not, the data will be written to the FIFO INx register directly. If full, I will wait for a maximal time of ( 1second : jus to be generous with the time) for the fifo to become available.
I observe the bus with oscilloscope, I can see that every second data ist sent out ( eg: 0x01: not sent out, oxo2 send out, ox03: not sent out, 0x04: sent out, and so on ).

When I add a delay after each time I write the data to be INx, every data is sent out correctly as wished. But I do not wish to use delay ( ca. 2ms), because the delay time is too long for my application afterwards.

I am in the process of evaluating DAVE 4 for my automotive project based on xmc-4xxx microcontrollers. Is there, or will there be, a way to convert DAVE3 projects to DAVE4 projects? Even if it is only a semi-automatic process I am sure that would save countless of developer-hours redoing app configs, especially since the app tools are a little bit sluggish to use right now (like needing to invoke the solver in the signal editor between every new signal...) Looks like I can replicate the issue when creating up to 6 CAN objects using two CAN001 Apps. the issue happens when I set the mask to something different that 0x1fffffff.

Dave generates some code where the mask value goes to the IDExten or even the .CanNodeRegs

Wondering if there is a way to avoid this issue. Show Less
