CAPSENSE™ & MagSense Forum Discussions
We have experience tuning PSoC1 and PSoC4 non-MAX ICs to sense through thick gloves or even 5mm+ of cover glass. However, we are still learning about the CapSENSE 5 capabilities found in the PSoC4 MAX. Using the Pioneer kit, I've been able to overlay about 4mm of cover glass on the touchpad found on the expansion board and still get good response, but haven't experimented further. Has anyone out there explored the limits of what's possible for sensing distance using the PSoC4 MAX? Anyone hit 10mm? Obviously, this will be dependent on sensor design/construction.
Show LessI have summarized a few of the more central evaluation points for this feature of level detection, and I hope to discuss them together:
1. The cost of the level detection program (do not answer this if you are not sure)
2. Maximum detection range.
3. Types of liquids (conductive liquids (molten metals, ion-containing solutions), non-conductive liquids, organic solvents.
4. Type of container (container wall thickness requirements, container conductivity requirements).
Let's say I want to check the water depth of a fish tank, then can I accept the cost. If I want to check the oil level of a fuel tank, can I use a metal tank + organic solvent? I want to detect the height of the soldering furnace, then the molten metal can be used. I have encountered a need to detect the level of molten metal, it seems that the final use of laser distance measurement. I know that more accurate detection and identification of foam is an advantage of this model, but is it only suitable for simple applications such as washing machines and coffee makers.

Show Less使用CY8CKIT-041S-MAX練習Capsense button.
使用程式修改cy_capsense_tuner.widgetContext[i].snsClk, CSD button有正確反映充電時間增加的變化.
Show LessGood morning.
I have a problem with the CY8cmbr3108. I calibrated the touch with EZ Clicka and everything looked correct, but the moment you put the gpio into strong mode the touch stops working and the app gives an error message in the button capacity.
In addition I added a pull-up resistor on the OUT output for measurements. Below I am uploading screenshots of the message in the app, as well as a snippet of the schematic. I also noticed that changing the option in the global configuration from open dren to pages caused the same problem.

Dear supporter,
Are there any other documents on 5th generation CAPSENSE™ other than CAPSENSE™ Design Guide ?
I would like to know if there are any documents that summarize the differences between the 5th generation and other generations of CAPSENSE™ architecture.
Best Regards,

Show LessI am using CY8c4246axi-M445. I have 8 capsense touch pads which are circular and of 12mm size. All other parameters are as per norms and in accordance with capsense pdf. I am using smartsense and auto tuning option.
When I use 2.5 mm layer, all 8 buttons work properly. Instead, If I place a layer of 4 mm, one button stops sensing (for e.g. button 1) and rest 7 buttons work fine. Also, If I change sensitivity option in 'scan order' from 4 to 2, then some other button (for e.g button 7) stops functioning, while other buttons working fine including button 1.
Does sensitivity number have random impact on touch sensing? Is there any other setting that I need to change?
Shall I have to use manual instead of auto tuning or decrease the layer thickness to less than 4mm?
Please guide.
Thank you.

Hello,
I would like to develop the touch sensor board. I want to use the CY8CMBR3002-SX1I to be my touch sensor chip. So, I found other touch sensor development board which is ttp223. My purpose is used the CY8CMBR3002 chip to replace the ttp223 chip. I tried different connection. Those are not work. So, I would like to ask some suggestion for my project. Thanks.
Show LessHi,
We are using the CY8C4024FNI-S412 in our product with CSD+Shield in Touchpad setup with 4x4 sensor matrix. We have achieved good results with the SmartSense (Full Auto-Tune) and are in the process of making power consumption optimisations and other tuning settings.
We would like to have additional guidance on a challenge that is quite important to be resolved for our use case: when the finger on the touch area is rotated around at "normal" speed, the input works correctly giving coordinates around the whole area of the touchpad but when certain "fast" rotating speed is achieved, we lose the input or it starts working abruptly (i.e. sometimes giving input and sometimes not). We are currently scanning the touchpad every 30ms and we have auto-reset turned off.
Our current hypothesis is that maybe for some reason getting values all over the touchpad causes the fw to think that it is getting interreference and results in not being able to resolve the "correct" touch point. We are still experimenting with different settings but do you have any guidance or tips regarding this scenario? We are trying to achieve also sensible balance with power consumption and performance as we are using a CR2032 coin cell battery as our power source.

Show LessDear Receiver,
I would like to know more about auto-tune function of MBR3...
#1. Does the auto-tune function of MBR3 only done by hardware ?!
Because I found there are no parameters settings about tunning in the EZ-Click software.
In the EZ-Click, I only can set some configurations such as auto-reset period, finger-threshold, etc.
I don't see that I can turn something about Capsense.
Based on above, I think auto-tune function of MBR3 is done by hardware, right ?!
#2. The function of EZ-Click is for user to see the Capsense status and some basic Capsense configurations, right ?!
But no turning function, right ?!
#3. About SNR check function, one question is...
I pressed "START" to check SNR value and I will get different SNR values no matter how many times I pressed the "START".
So what's the correct SNR value I can get ?! There are no fixed SNR value I get when I pressed "START" every time.
Could you please help me to check the above 3 questions?!
Thank you so much.

Hi,
I use a metal (iron) cylinder (diameter=10mm, height=50mm) to test and compare with CY8CKIT-145-04XX, CY8CKIT-041S-MAX and CY8CKIT-040T. I tried to make best SNR using manual with each kit.
Result of best SNR is 32.40 for BTN0(diameter=10mm) on CY8CKIT-145-04XX, 52.02 for BTN0 of CY8CKIT-041S-MAX, and 29.73 for BTN0 on CY8CKIT-040T.
According to my results, CapSense5 is maybe little better than CapSense4. My questions are
- Is there something wrong about my tests?
- How does official test about that CapSense5 is 10 times better than CapSense3?
