This is a quick how-to video of one of Infineon’s evaluation boards in the Modular Application Design Kit (MADK) platform. In the short video below, we’ll show you how to set up and run the evaluation board EVAL-M1-IM828-A.

The heart of this board is the IM828-XCC – the world’s first 1200 V transfer molded Intelligent Power Module (IPM) with silicon carbide (SiC) MOSFETs. It boasts the highest power density in its voltage class and package and has higher integration not only with power devices, but also with gate driver ICs. With its reduced dv/dt switching behavior, it is optimized for industrial drives applications like pumps and fans, but also can be used as a 3-phase active power factor correction for heating, ventilation, and air conditioning systems (HVAC).

EVAL-M1-101T is a control board for the iMOTION™ Modular Application Design Kit (MADK) platform. It is powered by the IMC101T-T038 iMOTION™ Motor Control IC, featuring an advanced Motor Control Engine (MCE), that enables state-of-the-art sensorless Field Oriented Control (FOC) without the need for any coding. IMC101T-T038 is a part of the iMOTION™ IMC100 series, which is the next generation of the well-established iMOTION™ motor control IC platform dedicated to the FOC of PMSM (BLDC) motors.

In this video, we will show the control board equipped with the M1, 20-pin interface connector, EVAL-M1-101T, and demonstrates our CIPOS™ Maxi SiC IPM technology for motor drive. Check out the video to see how easy it is to set up the evaluation platform EVAL-M1-IM828-A and learn more about the control board and the SiC-based IPM.
