Hello,
We want to develop a USB-C charger and we need to check the battery charge percentage of the device connected to the USB-C charger. The connected to de USB-C device can be a Smartphone, Tablet or PC.
In our charger we are going to integrate a processor and we need to read the battery percentage of the device that is being charged
Is it possible to read the battery percentage of the device connected by USB-C? Any Infineon reference can do this job?

Hello,
As per USB PD spec define, there is Battery Status update process. Infineon solution could be support this feature with some effort on SDK. However, there are some points you may concern -
1. this function needs both power source and power sink device being capable of battery status update. As far as I know not all the smartphone or notebook devices supporting this feature.
2. Frankly this feature is not much meaningful to charger since almost all sink devices has PMIC to manage the battery charging itself, and charger does not need to know this info.
Thanks,
Fred
