Hello @KZM ,
Following are a few advantages of Hybrid flyback over Active clamp flyback (ACF),
- Lower voltage stress on the FETs compared to ACF.
- Both the high side & low side FETs operate at ZVS, so have better efficiency.
- Smaller transformer size. Both transformer and resonant capacitor store energy intermediately during the energy transferring from the primary to the secondary side. This reduces the necessary transformer size.
- Due to the resonant characteristics, hybrid flyback operates very well with a wide input range while the switching frequency is limited within a relatively small range., which is beneficial for EMI filter design.
