"ED" stands for "Emulation Device." An Emulation Device (TC3xxED) is part of the AURIX™ 2nd Generation family and is used for emulation and debugging purposes. It closely resembles the associated TC3xx Production Devices (PD) and its feature-reduced derivatives. The ED includes the unchanged Product Chip Part (SoC) and the Emulation Extension Chip (EEC) part on the same silicon. It is available in similar package variants as the associated PD, allowing a single PCB with minimal overhead for supporting both PD and ED. The ED provides features such as a large RAM for calibration overlay and tracing, a Multi-Core Debug Solution (MCDS) for non-intrusive tracing, and access to the EEC part via regular DAP/JTAG pins, among others.
