Hi Christine,
Embedded voltage regulator (EVR) uses a close loop system to regulate the core voltage domain.
The VDD output pin is separated from the VDD feedback sense. If both pins are disconnected, the VDD output voltage may rise to VDDP3/2 ~ 1,7V, causing an over voltage condition.
