Hello,

We are designing an automotive grade 3.3KW On Board Charger for which Industrial Grade PFC & DC-DC designs are being referred.

The design 1 consist of both PFC and DC-DC, design 2 and 3 are for the DC-DC design and design 4 is for only PFC design.

Sr No.

PFC Controller- XMC1404-LQFP-64

In the above designs XMC1400 series are used as PFC controller and XMC4200 series are used as DC-DC controller. Both XMC1400 and XMC4200 are industrial grade MCU's.

For automotive grade product, AURIX family MCU's are suggested. However, AURIX family MCU architecture is different than XMC family MCU. The AURIX series have TriCore architecture.

We have following queries :

1. Please suggest us automotive MCU equivalent to  XMC series.

2. In the above designs they are using different MCU's for controlling PFC and DC-DC. Is  it possible with one MCU? If possible please suggest us the MCU.

3. How can we port applications of above designs from XMC family to AURIX family ?  Please share porting guide for the same.

Looking forward for your expert support.

Thanks and Regards,

Vikas Dwivedi

Hi Vikas,

XMC devices are not automotive qualified devices but qualified to work in extended temperature range. Meanwhile please checkout this appnote also.
